Newbie to the forum here but not new to biking - been riding for 35 years and still going strrong!! IAM advanced rider and probably had TOO MANY bikes (according to the Mrs!) but recently came back to the Fazer. Had a 600 about 7 years ago and then 4 years ago a brand new Gen 1 Fazer 1000. HELP Flashing Dash

Just had my Fazer 1000 services 24K (big one) after going out for a ride a couple of days after I was in traffic and all the lights on the dash start flashing and the rev drop from tickover to 0 and back to tickover. After about 6 flashes the clocks return to normal and the dash stops flashing. This happened again today while in traffic and I am getting worried. I have spoken to a Yamaha dealer and they to me that they have never seen this before. Can anyone offer some advice as to what could...

02 fazer 1000 vs 02 R1

this is probablies one for mike here seeing as though he owns said bikes, but how do they stack up against each other?
is there that much difference in the power?
How do the engines compare against each other?

I am just curious, my mate has an 02 R1 with a filter and a yoshimura slip on, and I have an 02 Fazer 1000, ivanised with a filter and a mivv motogp carbon slip on.
I would imagine the r1 would be quicker ?

Just got myself a nice 04 thou. Im over the moon with it. The bike has the standard exhaust on it, but came with a full akrapovic race system. The dealer took it off for the mot, and refused to fit it back on because it is not legal. I would like some advice on the benefits of fitting it back on. Does it make that much difference on performance? do you lose midrange without the exup valve? Could i just put the end can on and leave the exup valve on? any advice would be...

I've got an old pair of Givi E36 monokey panniers I've been moving from bike to bike for a few years now, but I've found out Givi don't make side racks for my 02 model, but they do for the 03-05 model......... Anyone any ideas how different the back ends of the two models are? Can the racks from the 03-05 be made to fit the 02 bike? Has anyone done this? If I don't have any luck then I guess I'll invest in a good tailpack!

I have a 2002 FZS1000 with 24K on it, need to change the chain and sprockets but not sure what to go for. Original Yam will cost me 180 ish, but I am wondering if there is recomendations? as I don't want to make a mistake that could be costly.

Misfire under 2000rpm

Hi - my Fazer 1000 '03 model is running beautifully above 2000 rpm, but over the last few months I've noticed that in pulling away from idle up to 2000rpm, the engine is snatching - feels like it's running on 3.

Have replaced plugs, checked TCS/Exup/carb balance to no avail. Have also noticed (though might be unrelated) that my mileage has dropped from around 53 to 45 mpg.

Local shop wants an open cheque effectively to look at it, but suggested I replace the...

I knew bike had been over before I bought it (clocks pointing an inch to the left made it pretty obvious).
Anyway, in a rare fit of perfectionism, I decided on a new front fairing frame. Let's face it, everything on the front attaches to it, and even after bending it back it's always off a bit.

Anyway, yesterday I stripped the front down to replace the fairing frame. Apart from a lack of screws holding the fairing & lights on, I found this horror:

They get a fantastic report from my local tyre dealer (bandit 1200 riders love em) i can get these fitted at same place for £124 a pair fitted (these are the touring ones)??
Hunters of Westgate Road Newcastle.

He says they are as good if not better than Pirelli Corsa's.

Radiator problem

My recent impulse purchase last week has turned up another problem.

I knew she had been over on her side when I bought her, but she rode straight & I like tinkering with bits anyway.

Anyway, the radiator. Yesterday I wondered why the Rad was wobbling around a bit while running on tickover. One of the two radiator mounting brackets (on the top of the actual rad) is missing / gone. No stump, just completely not there. Yeah, I should have looked more closely before buying...

Since fitting a bigger fuel tank I've noticed that the bike is much more flickable with it full compared to when it's empty (when the front end feels ever-so-slightly nervous).
