You can fit R1 forks (any year from 98 onwards, depending on the size of your wallet image ) but it's not a simple swap job, as I think you understand already image

You either have custom yokes made up to hold the shorter R1 forks lower in order to maintain the front end geometry, or you can fit the Fazer steering head stem to the R1 yokes in order to use those. In this case, the front end is lower but not by as much as the difference in Fazer/R1 leg length ... the R1 yokes have a different offset which brings the fork legs closer to the bike.

Do a Search on the US FZ1OA forum because a good few over there have done it.

FWIW, having the stock forks revalved and resprung makes a big performance difference but obviously lacks the visual impact of USD forks ... and radial calipers if you go for a late model R1 donor. In this case, you'll also be needing the R1 wheel etc etc, whereas the early model R1s and Fazer shared the same wheel and braking system for a few years.
