The AIS is indeed those silver pipes.

It's designed to make the exhaust gases cleaner by injecting fresh air into the top of the exhaust pipe, which is supposed to allow for some more complete combustion after the gases have left the cylinders.

I have to confess I think it's a smoke'n'mirrors type thing, if you put fresh air into the top of the pipes, then of course the % of unburnt hydrocarons at the end of the exhaust pipe is going to be lower. :huh: But I'm a bean counter not a spanner! :jest:

Removing it is for visual effect only, I don't think anyone has suggested it has any effect (good or bad) on the power.

I don't recall anyone having dropped the forks, though a fair few have created the same effect by fitting jack-up plates to the rear suspension. Do a search for jack-up kits on this site and you'll probably find some good info. Do a search for jack off plates on Google and you'll get a very different set of answers! :eek Don't ask me how I know... :o ;) :whistle:
