You right about the inch, best go measure my dick again.

While I was looking for a new bike I tried a multitude of bikes. All the bikes I tried from one dealership had all the bars way to forward. Preference of the mechanic there.
When setting the angle on my bars, if I'm holding the bars and moving from lock to lock and it feels like the motion of your hands at the top of a steering, then the bars are to far forward.
If it feels like you holding the bottom of a steering wheel, then they're to far back. Try and find somewhere in the middle.

Your bars are a lever for playing with the gyroscopic forces of your wheels.
